The hour-count trap is visible in current pages

At inspection, The TEFL Academy's UK homepage advertised a 282-hour training bundle, while its detailed product page described a 312-hour bundle including additional bonus units. The core award was still described as 168 hours. TA2 TA1

That discrepancy is a reason to record the current order contents, not a reason to declare the entire provider illegitimate. Marketing totals can describe a changing bundle. They should not be silently substituted for the name and size of the assessed qualification.

Apply the same discipline to both providers: write down the final award, its assessment and the optional components separately. A higher promotional total is not automatically a more valuable credential.

What “support” needs to mean for you

A dedicated tutor may be valuable when you want continuity across assignments. A tutor-supported model needs clear information about how questions are handled, how work is marked and what happens when you need clarification.

Do not infer that one is better from the label alone. We have not submitted identical work to both providers or compared feedback. Ask for a representative assignment and an explanation of the marking process rather than relying entirely on a star rating.

Also distinguish academic support from career guidance. Help searching for a job is not a guarantee of appointment or permission to work.

Practice requires its own comparison

Neither a framework level nor the word “online” answers whether you teach real learners under assessment. Check the exact practice provision of the product in your order.

The TEFL Academy markets a separate observed-practice course. TA3 Do not assume it is automatically included with the self-paced online diploma, or that an equivalence claim obliges your employer to accept the combination.

Read the observed-practice guide and CELTA comparison before choosing based on supposed equivalence.

A practical decision, not a universal winner

Choose the product that satisfies your receiver's requirement, fits the timetable and supplies support you will actually use. When both appear suitable, compare the minimum payable total and sample assessment process.

When neither clearly meets an observed-practice or named-award requirement, neither should win merely because one is discounted. Resolve that requirement first.
