IELTS writing feedback services compared

Compare IELTS Answers and Benchmark by price, task count, response time and the type of comments you receive.

Updated 18 Sept 20263 min read

Good IELTS writing feedback identifies the problem, explains it and gives you something specific to change in the next draft. Compare the work included before relying on a practice band estimate.

This is a public-offer comparison checked on 18 September 2026, not a purchased-service test. We have not independently measured either provider's grading accuracy, teacher quality or delivery performance.

What one “task” means for your budget

A writing examination can contain more than one task. A purchase allowing four tasks is not necessarily four complete writing tests. Record whether each Task 1 and Task 2 submission uses its own credit.

The British Council explains that IELTS writing has two tasks, with Task 2 carrying twice the weight of Task 1. BC2 That does not justify ignoring Task 1, nor does it establish that a merchant counts one full examination as one correction.

Ask how the provider handles the precise version you need: an Academic Task 1 response, a General Training letter or Task 2. A sample corrected essay cannot show how the service handles every different task.

Compare the response, not the label

Look for an explanation anchored to your own sentences. “Develop this idea” is incomplete unless the reader can see which point lacks support and how to improve it. An estimated criterion score is more useful when accompanied by evidence than when presented as an isolated number.

A rewrite can demonstrate one possible repair. It should not be confused with feedback proving that you can reproduce the repair independently. The practical test is whether you know what to do on the next unfamiliar task.

Use these questions when inspecting a sample:

QuestionA useful answer would identify
What did the writer fail to answer? The missing part of the actual prompt
Which passage causes difficulty?A specific sentence or paragraph
Why does it matter? Its effect on meaning, support or organization
What should the writer try next?A concrete revision or practice action

These are our editorial evaluation questions, not a replacement for the official examiner rubric.

Human versus automated feedback

A human label does not prove consistency, and an automated label does not prove that every comment is wrong. The important question is what has been demonstrated. Does the feedback preserve your intended meaning? Can it explain its criticism? Does it introduce unsupported facts? Has the claimed score accuracy been tested against an appropriate reference?

We have not conducted that accuracy experiment for the services listed here. Read human versus AI feedback for a practical way to use suggestions without treating the score as official.

Choose a service around a revision cycle

For a first purchase, consider a small commitment with a representative sample and clear submission rules. Submit an unaided attempt, not a perfected version created to impress the reviewer. Keep the task prompt alongside the answer.

After receiving comments, revise the answer and then attempt a different task. Record which problem recurred. This turns a pack into a sequence of questions about your work rather than a collection of predicted bands.

Buying ten credits does not create time to complete ten useful cycles. The feedback-cost guide shows how unused credits change the effective cost.

Claims we are not making

We are not declaring one provider's estimates more accurate, endorsing an “ex-examiner” claim independently, or promising a band increase. The public sample establishes what the seller chooses to demonstrate; only actual use could establish what was delivered in a particular purchase.
